African Pygmy Goats
The African Pygmy goat is a breed of miniature domestic goat. Pygmy goats are hardy and can adapt to virtually all climates. Their small size and friendliness have made pygmy goats the most common breed of goat kept as pets. They come in a variety of colors; caramel patterned, agouti patterned and black patterned.
Female goats are doelings and does, male goats are bucklings and bucks and castrated males are wethers. Does can be bred for the first time at about 18-24 months of age. Gestation is 5 months. It is not uncommon for a doe to deliver multiple kids.
Their diet consists of hay/grass and grain. They require fresh water, minerals, shelter and a companion; preferably another goat.
Cedar Shade Pygmy goats are registered with the National Pygmy Goat Association.
